The Drive

Breaking Barriers with Food

Food is more than sustenance – it is a bridge that unites people. Despite differences in culture, language, space and time, people can share and enjoy recipes and food. It is enjoyed all across the planet and by all generations demonstrating food’s ability to break barriers. A fascinating example of this is barbeque. The birth of BBQ arose from the cultural norms and taboos of the time. Yet, it was so powerful that it broke down the barriers and taboos that shaped it. This phenomenon drives Chef Nathan Buckley’s passion.

The Philosophy

Growth, Preparation, and Discipline

Chef Nathan Buckley bases his approach on Kaizen. It is an idea centered on “continuous growth and improvement”. He seeks to apply this mindset in every aspect of his life and work. And this drives him to refine his skills and strive for excellence. He believes every problem is a new opportunity for growth. He is always hungry for knowledge. And it’s this outlook that fuels his passion for food and beyond.

Another central part of his philosophy is Mise en Place. This translates as “everything in its place”. This concept is important both in and out of the kitchen. Especially to get consistent and high-quality results. He focuses on organization and preparation. And he believes that discipline is essential.
